I have no idea why different bikes from the same factory can be so different. My 07 superglide has been perfect in every way,I added the xied's mainly to richen the mixture in hopes of longer engine life.As a side benefit the bike picked up some power so they were worth it.

One thing most of you seem to over look is where people live. The fuel we get today is not the same as what we got last year. Also the fuel is different all across the country. In an air cooled motor it makes a big difference. Stoich which in basic terms is the proper point for a fuel to burn is a Lambda value of 1. Now what does that mean to you? Last years fuel has a stoich value of 1 but is an AFR of 14.68 in most of the US and Canada. This years fuel has a stoich value of 1 but is an AFR of 14.2 in most of the US and Canada. Now with this information maybe you can begin to understand what is happening. Until the fuel settles down to the same everywhere it's upto the closed loop fuel managment to correct as you go. If you do not have closed loop control you may need to make manual corrections.

Steve, that does make sense to a point. I usually never assume anything in life, but I will this time, by saying, those who aren't really having issues with their bikes now, likely will, come January 2010! The fuel rating/values you mention will be uniform through out North America come 1/1/10, when, as we all know, the latest round of EPA/CARB stds. will now be met. This also effects diesel owners. Where as, once again, all North America will have the same ULSD across the board, this now means Ag, Railroad, Marine and over the road diesels will all use the same ULSD fuel! Until 2010, the new std. for off road Ag Marine RR fuel is 500 PPm Sulphur and retail is the ULSD. In 05 is when ULSD was required and the off road diesel was 1500 PPM Sulphur.

Are you saying the upgraded DL for the 08's is a Stage 1?? Do you by chance have the invoice for the work done?? This may be a chance to nail something down. Your paper work should list work done and a Down Load number. Steve, I just saw on the news this morning that because of the refineries being down as a result of Hurricane Ike we will be subject to gasoline of a lesser standard. It seems that a lot of foreign gasoline does not meet the same standards as our domestic gas does. President Bush has authorized the government to temporarily suspend restrictions that normally would not permit these gasolines of a lower standard to be imported. But now to guarantee the gasoline reserve doesn't get used up he will allow the poorer fuel to be imported and used domestically for a temporary period of time till the refineries are up and running again.

Imagine the problems this will cause unsuspecting owners when their bikes start to run erratically, when they get a tank of foreign gasoline of a poorer quality.

Other parts of the county still have 93 Octane gas, where as Commiefornia is 91 and oxygenated!

Sure hope I hear from Texas Vet!

It's not just the octane. You can have 100 octane with a lambda of 1 but an AFR of 14.2 or 14.68. You will see tuning changes in the future to allow for changes in fuel because of it. GM and Delphi have been working on sensors for the fuel that pickup what's in the tank and tell the ECM so it can make adjustments.

Absolutely: 34462-08C/DT

I had problems with my bike since I owned it from the dealer. I had poor fuel mileage, 37 was the best on the hwy, and poor power on the hwy. After the download, the mileage jumped up to the low 40's and the power seemed to be dramatically improved.

I waited for the one problem to be resolved before I removed the stock exhaust and place on true duals.
