It all has to do with the limits built into the ECU and just how far it can get from what it is expecting.&nbsp\\;Get too far and things get ugly. Think of a trumpet or trumbone. If you start adding or changing tubes in the middle the place you have to put you sliding hand to get the perfect note changes.&nbsp\\;At some point thing will be so messed up you cant play the instrument at all.&nbsp\\;Same sort of thing.

There are upper and lower limits of the adaptive settings.Once they are reached it will have no effect. You can use bigger air filters and more open exhausts and the system will learn those variations.PERIOD.

glens I read the forum links you posted. The AFV tables are there for use in closed loop mode only even though it shows changes that one would think apply to openloop. It doesnt happen. Open loop will run on the predetermined setting of afr together with throttle position and iat settings. You have a confused idea of the operation of the ecu presently used.

Settings are changed in that area but are not used by the ecu.
