Go pull a plug from any new street car with relitivly low milage.&nbsp\\; You will be amazed at how white they are.&nbsp\\; Better yet pull the plugs out of one of these high strung 200 HP 2 liter 8000 RPM Honda cars and take a look.&nbsp\\; All the rules change on EFI compared to carbs.

No, the rules do not change, Andy. You still, just like has always been the case, need to be able to clearly see the (what should be) millimeter-wide soot ring down at the base of the center electrode porcelain to be able to accurately ascertain mixture.

I don't think thats the rule they are using.&nbsp\\; Thats the&nbsp\\;rule I use, but I&nbsp\\;use a $3000 microscope to see in there.

Other than the ground strap there is no color on these plugs , but both plugs are the same frt, and rear, there is no way for me to look that deep inside the plug to see if there is carbon down inside it. Does anyone have a pic. of a good running plug?&nbsp\\; Thanks Doc

That is exactly our point.&nbsp\\; You will only see a white electrode without the ability to see deep inside the plug.&nbsp\\; Some people go to the trouble to cut the plug in 1/2 to get there but that is a pain.&nbsp\\; If you have a lath, it may work to cut the plug threads away.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
What you are describing is exactly what I would expect on any EFI&nbsp\\;vehical&nbsp\\;running in closed loop (14.7 - 13.8 AFR) most of the time.&nbsp\\; If you were to set&nbsp\\;the entire AFR map to 13.2 and had the perfect VE table dialed in, then you MAY be able to get a tan plug.&nbsp\\; I have never tried it on a street vehical running on street fuel.

I wonder if this 90 AFV thing happens when o2 eliminators are in place (the one meg resistor trick) ?&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
One of us may have to build a set to find the answer to this one.

PO131 (front O2 sensor low / lean) and PO151 (rear, same) being thrown with IED's installed. What should I be looking for?

whittlebeast&nbsp\\; I have tried just the 02 eliminators in place and get the same plug readings but they are not as smooth as the XIEDS.&nbsp\\; I would love to see a pic of a plug that you think or know that is within specs for the 96" motors?&nbsp\\; The bike stock had more color on the plugs than what the increased afr is showing with the XIEDs.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; You have a picture?&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; All I have for referance is this outdated plug reading chart. Thanks Doc

About like 23 is about all you get anymore.&nbsp\\; It would take a lot of miles to get anywhere near most of those plugs unless you had somthing else messed up.&nbsp\\; Just go pull a plug form a healty street car with 1000 miles on the plug.&nbsp\\; It will look almost new on the porclin.

Read http://www.dragstuff.com/techarticle...ark-plugs.html and the last bulletted link How you can read spark plugs and select them at the bottom of that page. The second article has pictures.
