Please forgive me for asking what might be another dumb question but I am a little confused after reading all the posts.

From what I gather the Fuel Pack is useless in my application. Am I right in concluding that I am basically running the Rush with SE A/C ( no download ) just on the stock ECM above idle? If so is this a concern or can the stock ECM handle the AF ratio with the higher flow throught the engine?

Is the HD download really worth the money? I am thinking IED or XIED's, remove the fuel packand leave the A/C and slipons where they are. Anyone see any issues with that?

Sorry that was more than 1 question. Just trying to get some input from those who have first hand experince with the testing and experimenting.....

Thanks for the help,

Joe

Joe,
I am biased, so forgive me if I shot my mouth off on the FP.
The FuelPak only works in openloop.99% of us riders dont cruise in open loop as tickets are too expensive in the long run.
The stock configuration of anyHarley will adjust to the AFR required based on those O2 inputs, but in most cases, thebigger A/C allows more air into the mix than the ecu can adjust to, resulting in a leaner mix.
As for putting a download in the bike, it's a personal choice. It willenrichen the mix by increasing pulse width a little.
Your pipe choice is a good one. After all, what goes in has to get out! Sort ofbalances out everything.
My choice would be, and this is my choice only, stock air box with high flow filter, the Rush pipes and the XiED kit.
I am running a sert map because my bike is modified.

I'm gonna pull the trigger on the XIED's today, please tell me that I am doing the right thing. Will it cure my pinging and cool it down or should i go ahead and drop the $250 to install and tune the PCiii I have. It's all so confusing, I'm losing my mind.
We all go there! LOL
Pinging is detonation and is caused by either very lean burn conditions or errors in the timing. Most likely its running lean.
It's just a suggestion, but try the XIED kit first, without the PClll.
I think afterward, you maysee that you will be satisfied.

I have my XIED's on order, should be here in a day or two. I also have an 08 Ultra, and have been running the IED's. My bike, is stock, andonly has 1800 miles on it so far, so do I need to get new spark plugs, and gap them to 42,or am I OK with my current plugs?

Phil,
With only 1800 miles I would just inspect them and regap. If they need cleaning, DO NOT use a wire brush. Fine emery cloth work best and blow out the grit left over.

Doesn't a white plug indicate a lean condition?

Mike, not necessarily. With the additives in fuel today, it's not uncommon to see the plugs almost completely white.

Is a plug gap of 42 the recommended gap for the 08s,or is this adifferent gap setting? Seems like it was the recommended gap on my Evo, but gave the shop manual to the new owner when I sold it and I don't remember.

Supposed to have 08' FLHTCU on order!
XiEDs on order!

Dave,

O.K., thought I remembered earlier comments on this thread about plug color changing after putting the IEDs on. Wish I had time to go back and read this whole thread again.........but it is like reading a novel!
