I know this a is field testing thread so I am asking forforgiveness before hand about my question....

I just got done talking with Steve and got a wealth of information from him. I forgot to ask him a question though. Wondering if you with experince can help me out a little. I have an 07 Street Bob with HD Stage 1 A/C ( no down load ) and Rush slipons 1.75" baffels and got talked into getting a V/H Fuel pack. Want to get rid of the Fuel Pack for warranty issues.
My question is if I take off the fuel pack and install the IED or the XIED do I need to get the HD down load for the A/C or would I be better off just putting the stock A/C back on and call it good?

I can only tell you what I would do. Actually what I have done.

I run the Rush slip ons with 2 inch baffles and a K&N RK3909 air kit with only the XIED's.

My dealer wouldn't do a stage one flash cause I wasn't using all HD parts. Now I find another dealer out here who will. In the meantime after riding the Bike, I just can't validate in my mind spending the $200 for the dealer to flash it. The Bike runs great.

 

Well, let me be the first one in this thread to make a negative comment about the XIEDs. I ordered them on Thursday, got them yesterday, installed them today and went for a ride. The bike didn’t seem to run as good as it did with the IEDs and the temperatures were hotter, over 300 deg front and back. I also had to keep the RPM up around 2400 to keep it from lugging where with the IEDs I could cruise comfortably around 2000. All in all, I’m a little disappointed. I’ll give them one more chance, but the way it looks now, I’ll pull the XIEDs and put the IEDs back on.

 

Sorry to hear that Gundog. I can only imagine how Heart breaking that must feel after waiting and reading everyone elses great experiences.

That's certainly not normal for the XIED's. I would double check your connections, and make sure they're seated good. If you continue to have problems don't hesitate to give Steve a call. He'll make it right for you.

 

What kind of voltage should we get if we test the XiED's like we testthe IED's ?

 

That sounds like the connection problems some have had!

I asked Steve that question, here's his answer.

"Just like the IED. The voltage test will show a little lower voltage."

Here's the original testing procedure:

If at any time you think your IED is not working properly, you should first make sure the connectors are properly plugged in and are tight. If you still feel there is an issue, you need to remove it from the bike first. Test your IED with a 1.5V battery, 2 paper clips and a volt meter. First you need to check the battery to make sure it is producing 1.5V. Open up the paper clips and install them into the female connector (wiring harness side). Touch the battery to the paper clips so the (+) side is on the blue wire site and the (-) on the grey side. Touch the voltmeter to the male connectors (wiring harness side). You should see 1.00 to .90 volts or about 30% less than the battery voltage. If the correct voltage is present, the IED is working correctly.

 

Just got back from my first ride with the IED's installed and I think they're working ok. Nothing dramatic but off idle throttle response seems crisper and I think the decel popping is less. One curious thing - my idle has jumped up to around 1100rpm. Anybody else notice this?

 

So did mine, because of the richer mix would be my guess.

 

Thanks to Steve, I have the perfect running Bike now. My jaws are so sore from smiling so much every time I ride the Bike now. Today my final touch arrived, something that I splurged and took the money I saved from not having to buy an expensive fuel mngt unit. I am truely in Hog Heaven now. I know this thread is about IED's and XIED's but I wanted to share my happiness with my friends up here.

Here is the new Home for my Butt Dyno. I got a killer deal on it. It's a Danny Gray Seat made for Drag Specialties. Normally it retails for $600 with drivers back rest. I grabbed it off of Ebay for only $399.95. A sweet savings of $200.

Between the XIED's and my new Butt Dyno, my wife will never see me again.
