what advantage would.. say a person with 05 bike get from
t-max or other autotune type tuner ?and what would be involved
to use one of these on a bike without O2 sensors ?

You would get the same benefits as an 07 or 08 bike. TMax completely replaces the OEM control module.

You would have to have M18x1.5 bungs tig welded onto your headers for the O2 sensors. The bungs are cheap, you should be able to get 2 bungs and have them welded on for less than $75 easily. All you need is a good exhaust shop, they should have (or be able to get) the bungs also.

Or, you could the TMax without the autotune and just run a canned map from Zipper's. Not as sexy, but if it is a good map and matches what you have, it will work fine. Then again, what you really have is a rather expensive PCIII.
