Default speedo got a mind of its own!!

Hi Guys, I have a 02 Dyna Wide Glide carb model and the speedo now has a mind of its own! When i start off the speedo flucuates and then stops or sticks and the engine light comes on but the bike still runs perfectly....but i have noticed that when i pull the clutch in everything works normally...the light goes out and the speedo works fine again until i let the clutch out and sometimes it carries on working for a while and other times it stops right away?!?!....Anybody had anything similar. Not sure if its the speedo itself or the sensor

What do ya think??

Start off with trying to clean the shavings off of the speedo sensor.

I don't have a Dyna and have never looked for one on a Dyna, but I'm sure it is similar to one on a Dresser. It will be on top of the transmission. It is just a small unit with a wire running to it and will likely be held down with an Allen head bolt.
