lights dimming
what do you all think can cause the lights to dim from time to time. battery is good 12.41 vdc at battery, not running and 14vdc when running. checked connections at battery they are tight.
also the other night the bike wanted to stall. i was riding down the road and the bike acted like it wanted to stall for a sec, looked down at the speedo and it was coming back up from 0 to about 50mph. i wonder if there is any relation

RE: lights dimming
When you looked at the speedo were the gauge lights dimmed too? If they were it sounds like a ground issue. The speedo and engine stalling could be from loss of power(ground) to the ECM and that could also dim the headlight. If it is intermitten that would explain why the battery and charging system check out OK.

RE: lights dimming
I'm not sure how you would go about it. Automotive/bike grounds are kinda gremlins. They are always hard to track down. If the stalling and dimming is all happening at the same time then i would say a bad ground is pretty likely. Without a wiring diagram you won't have much to go on. Start at the negitive battery post and look for something that is obviously loose. I don't know what bike you have but mine has a couple of grounds under the seat. (Threaded stud with a nut holding down a wire or two). You might also try wiggleing the wiring while the bike is idleing. It might help you track it down. Good Luck.

RE: lights dimming
i have 2007 road king classic. the dimming and the stalling is not happening at the same time. trying to figure out if they are maybe related. there is a thought that maybethe fuel pack might be bad to. gosh i wish i could afford a pcIII, maybe income tax time i will talk to my finacial advisor (wife) about getting one. i think i would get better response with a pcIII

At idle, work your way back from the battery along the wiring harness, jiggling wires as you go. Hit and miss, but you may find it. Any other electrical items on the bike that you have worked on recently? Good starting point. Gremlins like this are pretty hard to find when you can't easily repeat the problem.
