SE Plug Wires - Inteference with ECU??
I just read an article in AIM about ignition, coils, and ignition wires. One issue of note mentioned was that the later modelTC96 models shouldmaintain the stock plug wires.Reason being, aftermarket wires can interfere with the stock ECU causing check engine light and "limp home" conditions.
My concern is about the Screaming Eagle wires. I bought a set of red-colored ones to offset the black bob look. I just did a Stage I, have yet to really ride the bike as yet (winter in the Northeast), but I don't really favor the idea of riding next spring, and getting phantom check engine lights and error codes.
Does anyone know if this has been addressed by the MoCo, and the SE wires have been cleared for error-free use on the new TC96 bikes? I know the SE wires are an HD product, but still not stock. Looking for info...

I have run the S.E. wires for 4000 miles without any problems. I had orange ones from 300 miles mark until 3000 Ithen changed to black Accel wires but after a 3 mile ride home from the indy I read about compatibility and bought a set of Black S.E wires.

Hey Reb,
It isn't a matter of pulling it out on moderate days - I would in a millisecond. BUT, it's on a lift, battery pulled, fuel sta-bil added, and in my walk-out basement (have to remove the door to get it in and out).
If we get a spell of more than a day of mild weather, I will pull it out, but I can't get my mind around doing it for just a day.

Check those SE wires before installing. I had ignition issues after installing them on my 02. Turns out the SE wires were about 5100 ohms and the allowable range is from 5000 to 11000 ohm. I put the originals back on and timing problems went away. I believe it had something to do with the Delphi Ion knock sensing circuitry retarding timing with the SE wires. ---- Tom

Pray for a 3 or 4 day warm spell....
