There's really no such thing as auto tuning. Maybe auto maintaining a tune for lack of a better term. I'd also suggest you read up on and learn the pros and cons of tuning with narrowband vs wideband. Lot of misconceptions out there. As for open loop vs closed loop, open loop AFR is only going to be as accurate as the tuned VE tables. That's only going to be a accomplished using closed loop tuning and/or with the use of a dyno.
I run open loop but only after tuning the VE tables in closed loop. Otherwise hitting your target AFR is a crap shoot as far as what's in your AFR table and what you're actually getting for an AFR.
