I am installing some powered speakers and getting noise I have an old suppressor but can not remember how it is wired. There are 3 wires red, blue and black. I believe the red and blue are hot they are on opposite sides of the filter, does the black go to ground?

From what I've read, you're right. The black goes to ground. The picture above shows one installed between the alternator and battery. The little tab is screwed into the chassis and is the ground.

Are you going to install the suppressor between the amplifier and the power source?
