Default Injector Upgrade 06 Touring

Anyone have expernience in upgrading from 8 Deg to 25 Deg injectors as to MPG diffenences?

Currently getting 30 - 32 MPGwith OEM 8 Deg injectors. Trying to get dealer to upgrade to 25 Deg as per M 1185 Service Bulletin.

Thanks for the input

If your not experiencing any drivablity problems in the lower RPM range there is no need to up grade to the 25* injector, but if you do upgrade the download is necessary because the 25* injector flows 15% more fuel than the 8* injector. If your only getting 32 MPG now the 25* injector with out the download you'll need to move to Saudi Araiba....lol.
Not to be noisy but what did you have done to get that kind of mileage?

Doc

Thanks for the interest.

Bike is basically "stock"

Factory Pipes and Mufflers, K&N 3909 A/C

That's the extent of the mods

Bought bike used from local dealer. Bike was a Kyle Petty Ride Escort bike in 06.

Have Tired Full Sac True Dual Conversion, however, did not change pipes or mufflers. Bike has gotten same fuel mileage for the past 5K miles.

Shift at 2750 - 3000, crusie at 3000, 90% of riding is Interstate at 72 - 74 MPH

Read on one of the messages here that Service bulletin M 1185, was also about poor fuel mileage.

Dyno Curve and A/F map posted under Bagger Dyno on Toruing Forum

Appreciate any input

Thanks

Interesting info Doc, the 8 degree sert maps and the 25 degree sert maps show the same injector gpm, never thought about what they might actually flow in comparison.

I changed from 8's to 25's and the gas mileage is the same (although I don't religiously check it) as far as I can tell. I no longer have low RPM or cold driveability problems like stalling when taking off from stops.

I get about 37 mpg in town and about 44-46 on highway trips.

Make sure your air cleaner is not clogged up. I doubt the injectors would cause this problem. You probably should ask a dealer you trust. The only time my 05 EGlide Classic and my 06 Ultra (later build with 25 deg injectors) ever got that poor mileage is when it's really cold outside. If I had to guess, I think your engine temp switch and ECM think the bike is running cold all the time and pumping more fuel than necessary. This could be a problem long term, just like leaving a choke on. The raw unburned fuel can wash the oil film off your cylinder walls and pistons. If it were me I'd at least get it checked.

Yea Bob thererated the same but there are 6 holes in the 25* vs. 4 holes in the 8*. The maps in the Tuner already account for this increase when the map lists the 25* injector....if it is listed as a 8* in the calibration and you have a 25* in the bike it will be richer all through the map by 15%.
