It depends on storage temperatures.
Anything below 32 degrees fahrenheit and it would be a good idea to do so.
I would also recommend to use a Battery Tender Plus on the battery to help extend overall battery life. Just plug it in and leave it until your ready to ride next season.
The battery will be ready to go. I use them on all my vehicle's. They work great and can be used for short term non operational preiods as well. Cheap insurance..

[8D]Thanks for the gen. Yeah, up here it can get down to -20F on occasion .......... but it's not consistently that cold, eh. I have the Parts Catalogue / Service Manual and it seemed like a lot of work to get at the battery (remove Travel Pak). I suppose if the battery died over the winter I'd have to do that anyway ........... and if it (battery)froze(?)................. lets not talk about it!
