Need some help determaning what a specific error code could mean
I have an 01 Fatboy after searching the site and finding out how to get into the diagnostic mode I got back an error code of "99" meaning the check engine light flashed 9 times the first time and nine times the second time.
I then checked the chart to see what "99" means and it says
"99 Historic 34 Loss of idle speed control"
can some one point me in the right direction and tell what this could mean?
thanks in advance

It sounds like the IAC is not able to control idle speed within it`s operational parameters. Have you changed anything or performed any work or mods prior to the lamp coming on. I also think the DTC will flash 3 times before it flashes the second part of the code. You might be looking at the DTC incorrectly. 3 flashes of the first digit and 3 of the next digit. Can you give me a link to the procedure your using....[&:]
Never mind. I found your other post. Run the DTC codes again to verify your properly reading them.[:@]

I know the speed sensor handles: idling, turn signal cancellation, cruise control(don't have), and speedometer. but all these seem fine....

If you have a vacuum leak, ifanyone has adjusted the throttle plate/idle set screw. If any modifications/changes have been made this could cause idle control issues.
Throttle plate coking (buildup behind the plate) will cause idle control changes. The ECM has no idle adaptation for this type of problem like automotive PCM`s do.
You could have coking on the IAC tip and in the IAC idle air passage too. All this stuff can cause loss of idle control within the set parameters.

I just took the speed sensor out and cleaned it and put it back in. the problem is how can I tell if this worked? how do you reset the computer? I know after 50 strarts it clears it self but thats about a month and a half can't wait that long......

i think i am..
here is what happens, I turn the ignition on (with the run switch in the on position) the check engine light comes on like it normally does for 4 sec then after 10 sec I get 9 flashes then a pause of about 2 sec then I get another 9 flashes then a long pause of about 5 sec and then it repeats it self.
