Default Fly by wire confusion...

Technology is a wonderful thing - fuel injection, ABS brakes, fly by wire throttle control, theft deterrent systems, and etc, etc... But the thing is, they all have their pitfalls and quirks it appears. This bike with fly by wire throttle is a good example. It can be totally confused and the engine will just sit there and sputter. I've noticed on downshifting with a blurp of the throttle that I can make the bike backfire through the intake at will. The other day, riding in traffic, I pulled the throttle on then off very quickly then when I gave it throttle again, the engine went into fribulation - sputtered a bit then took off like a bike bird (good thing I had a good grip!!). Most of these situations are avoidable but knowing where the limitations are with the system may be a good thing....

Point is: is it me or does this sound like a problem brewing with this bike's fly by wire throttle control?

Fly-by-wire has been used in the automotive world for years. The problem isn't the technology per se, it's MOCO's implementation that need some work!

This is a repost for Thorn about his brother HAMMER. If you have an 08 HD
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get it checked out.

My Brother HAMMER was killed today in a bike accident -- he was the Pres
and Cater Holder for Boozefighter Capter 39 in Granbury T he is also the
Owner of Jackhammer Tatoo. his wife Sindi is in serious condition.

Seems that the new electronic throttle on the 08 HD's has a problem they
accelerate on thier own and you can shut them down. he had just got his bike
back from HD for this problem and they told him it was fixed. this time he
was in a curve and couldn't pull out of it , rtan off the road and threw
Sindi of ,then the bike flipped over on him and broke his neck .

please if you have one of these bikes or you know someone that does , get
it checked.

REST IN PEACE hAMMER MY BROTHER ----BOOZEFIGHTERS UP!!! "
