I should have added that unless you have a fairly high compression engine and/or you are spraying or you have a boosted (super or turbocharged) motor, platinum plugs should serve you well and last a long time. Of course, if you don't want the pre-ignition/detonation worry and you want your plugs to last even longer, than iridium is the way to go.
