Default PCIII timing adjustments

Just wondering if anyone has done any adjustments to the timing side of their PCIII map? If you did, how did you know what to adjust? AFR seems pretty simple but I'm not sure how one would go about checking/setting timing although I believe this would definitely compliment tuning AFR.

Suggestions? Comments?

I upped the timing in the cruise range to increase mileage, but backed off after hearing a bit of detonation. Jamie at Fuel Moto recommended that I not change it because in some conditions, especially hot weather, detonation can rear its ugly head. I wouldn't mess with the changes in the higher ranges of the map since they are based on a dyno tune, so why would I want to argue with that unless I had evidence to support a change? Changine the A/F table is another matter, and I've done quite a few alterations to that.

The values are all zeros in the timing table in my map with a very few exceptions at 100% throttle. It seems to never be mentioned in any discussion with the PCIII but I always wondered if there could be some majic numbers there. I also wonder if when they do a dyno tune, do they adjust the timing in the PCIII accordingly?

Up to a point, adding advance can help part-throttle response, engine cooling, and gas mileage--but over-zealous advance can hurt full-throttle performance and/or cause detonation at lower RPM's. I tried adding 5° advance to the cruise range last winter and again earlier this summer, but didn't notice a change in mileage so I backed it back to the original setting. In the winter test I heard some minor detonation, too. IOW, I didn't see any improvement, so I assume it is optimized already, more or less.

I have 3's and 4's in my map, all above 60% throttle. There are 4's from 2000-5750rpms at 100% TP.
