Default ECM:s and Soft Ware Levels

Hello,

I have a Dyna 2006 with the ECM 14 and a tune with software level 179 (for 2007-11) at the present moment.

My question is: Has anyone here a Harley with the ECM 14 and a tune with software level 357 in it?

That would be that you have an older bike like 2006-2007 and have flashed your ECM with a tune for the 2012-2015 Harleys.

Thanks a lot in advance and Best Regards

357 level tunes will not work in your ECM, as those were made for can bus ECMs (2012-2017).
You can use 127,129,141, and 176 level cals in your ECM.

Thanks Sir,

The reason I ask is that I cannot find the Adaptive Control Switch in my 176 tune, whereas this switch is present in a 357 tune.

I wonder is there anyone here who has a Harley, 2011 or older with 176 software level and Target Tune with Adaptive Fuel Control working? Can they see this switch in their WinPV, and can they see AFF activity in their PV?

Thanks a lot

2006 dyna does not have O2 sensors IIRC - hence no adaptive control at all.

Hello, the domestic version has NB O2 sensors, but the international version misses them. However it was prepared for Closed Loop. The bungs in the headers were plugged, as well as the NB connectors.

My bike is the international version. And I have installed broadband O2-sensors. I have used Autotune Pro for several years, recently I upgraded to Target Tune. The Closed Loop short term trims work fine, but I have yet not been able to activate the Adaptive Fuel Control.

This is why I wonder if anyone with a Harley -2011 and Target Tune has succeeded in that and knows that the Adaptive Feul Control is working.

Again there is no adaptive fuel capabilities for broadband sensors in a HD ecm. Even though it won't fit your bike I also believe that the 357 cals have been updated to 358.

Your opinon differs from what Dynojet claims and how they describe Target Tune. Maybe it will never work in my 176 tune though, but at least I can see and adjust the Adaptive Control temperatures in that tune. However I cannot see the switch. And also the AFF:s are inactive on the PV upon testing.

The 357 tune is different though. There I can see both the temperatures and the switch. From that I conclude Adaptive Control is present in the 357 tune. And off course my thought then was to export all value files from my 176 tune, import them to the 357 tune and flash the ECM. (Perhaps not possible, though.)

Anyway, as Dynojet advertise Target Tune as handling Adaptive Fuel Control, and as the PV has Adaptive Fuel Factor as a datalog, and as Dynojet have been trying to help me get the AFF active through their support, I find it a bit unbelievable that the hole thing should be a gimmick and that Adaptive Fuel Control does not work with broadband sensors.

But you could be right and Dynojet is bluffing off course.

We live in strange world.

P. S. I want to add, that the broadband sensors are not connected to ECM, but to the Target Tune, which is connected to the ECM through the NB stock connectors.

Here is the thread where it was discussed. Start around post 160. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/the-d...t-tune-17.html

This is nothing new and it's been this way since HD started using the Delphi fuel injection. If Dynojet is trying to say there is, then they are not being truthful.

Sir, I know too less to discuss this subject deeper. I am working on to get the AFF:s active on the PV log, to begin with. I hope this will happen, and then I think I will know more in the matter, based on how I feel my bike will react and also how the data logs will look like.

Reading threads can put ants in the head and one may ask:

1/ Does my Harley have Adaptive Fuel Control at all?

2/ If it has, can Adaptive Fuel Control be activated properly through the tune? (Switch, temperature thresholds)

3/ Can the info that comes from Target Tune be similar to the NB sensors so that the trims will be stored in the ECM as was thought, improving the bikes performance?

Well, I hope soo. I cannot see why not.

Anyway, thanks for you input. The subject is interesting.

2006 US Domestic Dyna came with and without narrow band O2 sensors. 2006 Dyna did not have adaptive fuel. Adaptive fuel was turned on in 07 and later.

05A and later ECMs are O2 capable. 05A is actually an 06 ECM before the PN revved. These ECMs were capable of Wide Band sensors is using special engineering software, but in the wild they are all narrow band.
