crank angle bad wont fire the engine, but you say it fire from the barb spray. Once the system relay clicking and engaging, the ecm doing its job, Connectors that are bad would give you trouble codes. Me personally I dont rely too much on trouble codes because they can be triggered not from the primary cause that they state. So you on the right track, , if the system relay is engaging which it is, because the coil is firing, ( it takes 12 v from the system relay). So run the wires and let us know.

2007 Sportster XL883L- 10,000 miles
Just picked up this bike from a fella that said he cant get it started and didn't have time to fool with it. He thought it was the coil. After going ahead and installing new coil and installing a charged battery, I noticed that Fuel Pump wasn't priming. Checked fuses, replaced both relays and checked voltage at the fuel pump wiring harness. Replaced Fuel Pump with new one. Still not priming. Can get to fire with a shot of Carb cleaner. Checked voltage at the fuse box... getting voltage at the ECM fuse harness without a fuse but no voltage at the fuse when reinstalled (either post). Same with the battery fuse. What am I missing?
Pulled the DTCs :

Pulled the DTCs :
- P0261 Fuel Injector Low/Open (Front)
- P0263 Fuel Injector Low/Open (Rear)
- U1016 Loss of ECM Data

No update. Still need to take action on @paulmedford suggestions: checking ecm ground, etc. did clear the DTC codes to see if any new or old codes popped off… none yet. I’ll likely get back to it in the morning.

Update: Got ‘er going!!
it was the fuel pump harness. Followed the direction of @paulmedford and bypassed various points in that circuit until it was clear that the disconnect was something internal in the harness itself so I lopped it off (both sides) and installed a new 4 wire, waterproof harness and starts right up. Took her down the road and she drives great. Still have a ways to go to get the small 883 a comfortable ride but mechanically, she seems to be in good shape. Thanks so much for everyone’s input, advice and suggestions.
