Default SERT Questions

Whywould you need to max out the closed loop bias table to trick the system to maintain an AFR of around 14.1 to 1 when you can adjust that in the AFR table?

How would the average person know what the VE should be? It seems to me that the VE is one of the more important things that I would need to be concerned with when adjusting the AFR.

Oh well I guess that I need to start saving my change for a trip to the friendly neighborhood dyno tuner. Anyone know of one in the Norfolk area?

Default RE: SERT Questions

You can indeed change the AFR in that table, however as soon as you drop below a cell value of 14.6 the system no longer uses the O2 exhaust sensors and switches to open loop operation. Retaining the closed loop operation is IMHO the best option where possible.

One can also change the AFR by changing the values in the VE tables.

The only way to set the correct VE and consequently have accurate AFR figures is to set the AFR to say 13.6 accross the board, then by using a dyno and a sniffer manage the VE tables until the correct AFR is reached. Your system will now be calibrated for want of a better term. You can then set the AFR to whatever you desire in the knowledge that the values in those cells are correct.

Depending on how far from the canned maps you drift it is quite possible to gain vast improvements by self tuning on the road, doing data runs and adjusting your maps.
