@WONKEY split crank case, replaced flywheel with s&s, complete cam chest rebuild with all s&s, valve spring kit s&s, new primary, new swingarm, so I really disassembled it all and rebuilt with mostly s&s parts other than trans. Now having electrical gremlins.... Will go out and check voltages from fuses in AM and see if I can get anything to power on. Was going to check compression on each cylinder to make sure that wasn't the issue and couldn't get the bike to power on

Where did you read that from? Does the M8 have ion sense spark detector for ping detection built into the coil?

I thought Dan above was implying that. Think it uses that to know to not fire the plug.

Ion current sensing is an established method for the analysis of engine combustion. It is based on the measurement of thermally induced electrical conductivity in the combustion chamber and is used for detection of misfire, engine knocking, the air-fuel-ratio or peak pressure position.

OP, what plugs do you have installed? If not OEM, try OEM.

The flywheels slow down during compression, that is how the computer knows if there is compression.

The M8 does not have ion sensing, it has knock detectors.

Item 11 in a M8.

Dan, how does a TC know not to fire plugs? The same as a M8 or the ION sense.

Says in diagnostic manual it won't fire with plugs removed but not why.

Hey all, going to check fuses with multimeter in a bit, test for 12v at main 50amp fuse and 7.5 I think @paulmedford said. I looked at ground connentions by battery and those were secure. Going to try 2nd battery as well. If I can get bike powered on, going to check compression in cylinders 1st as thats needed to get it to fire (this shouldn't be issue but going to check anyways) then check 12v coming from ignition coil connection with everything connected. If bike is still not powering on will just try looking at all wires again.... plugs shouldnt be the issue I can't even get the inline spark tester to show anything on any plug so no signal is being sent to fire?

Yes, TC. I just was asking Dan hoping to clear up why the TC would not fire with plugs out for my reference notes.

People are always asking about that on. This is the first time I have seen this ask about a M8.
