Testing for Spark on M8 touring
#11
Am going to check compression on both cylinders in a bit, if that checks out I am going to then test for 12v at the ignition coil. Also need to try cranking engine longer than 5 seconds to see if there's any codes I think I am only doing it for 4 or 5 max. Ready somewhere in service manual that it takes 5 seconds for crank sensor code to pop up. Will let you all know what I find

im not sure how the M8 knows compression on cranking though, looking through the wiring diagram im not seeing how it can determine cylinder pressure as im not seeing a pressure sensor on the head. Anyway check that primary voltage because the same signal that controls the injectors controls the ignition to a large extent ( not totally) but in terms of firing.

Situation went from bad to worse, I just reattached battery after messing with it previously and pulling ACRs, connection to ignition coil, removed spark plugs, pulled the 7.5amp fuses to inspect then replaced and now bike doesn't get any power. Battery has 12.9v. Is best bet to try new fuses? I just visually inspected fuses but now nothing is powering on like before.

What did you get 12.9 volts on the battery with?

@Jackie Paper used a multimeter and put probes to terminals. Should I get 12v when testing at that 40 Amp and 7.5 both just putting terminals in the holes? I didn't pull the main 40 or 50 Amp fuses at first but after no power just now I did remove and put it back in.
