Default Dyno Tune or Thundermax?

Just installed a 124 kit in 2017 107 M8 road glide. Looking for tuning options. Local dyno guy said he would flash a tune on the dyno for $850. Been looking up other options and the Thundermax pops up a lot.

Would you go a dyno flash or go thundermax?

or what about the powervision? With auto tune

I'd find another dyno guy.

The "License" is a software file that allows his tune box (typically a Power Vision) to communicate with your bike, and edit the parameters in it's ECM (calibrate the settings to the actual components installed). You should get a copy of that license, and a copy of the original ECM map, if you ever want to restore the bike to factory settings, or have future tuning done.
He's not out of line with what I see other shops charging, if he's a good tuner. I see prices ranging from $400-$650 for a tune session, and some guys are awesome, and some are barely adequate.
Dave @ JDs is awesome, when available.

It is an option and for less than $850 you can have your own power vision device. When you buy it it comes ready to use.

Maybe check with DynoJet and FuelMoto if they have a map already for your setup first before deciding which way to go.

If it hasn't already been said, the Thundermax is not a realistic substitute for a dyno session.

I'd say that if you plan future mods go with the T-Max, if no more modifications on the engine in the near future get it tuned.

If you buy a tune “license” or buy a power vision (comes with the license for 1 bike/ ECM) you can always retune later on a dyno should you add something else for more power, only costing you dyno/operator time. Plus the power vision also has auto tuning capabilities, and the screen showing live engine parameters if you wish to mount it up.

That said no canned tune, even with auto tuning compares to a solid dyno tune IMO. I did the canned tune for exhaust and intake I had, as well ran a few auto tune sessions and it ran fine, pretty good I thought. Then I had my bike dyno tuned after cams and it runs so much better, and not just from the cams. The throttle response, lower end RPM and smoother ride ability gain from the dyno tune was greatly improved. As well my bike gets even better fuel economy now, I suspect that most auto tuning programs error on the side of over fueling for safety so you don’t run lean… which leads to worse fuel economy. A dyno tuner will get you closer to the optimal AFR for all conditions. P

the short answer here is to dyno tune it with the Powervision Tune license program.
if you want the long version, PM me.
