Who is running a Thundermax tuner?
Just looking for opinions.. Thinking about getting one for my 2021 Street Glide. I am usually a Power Vision guy but There is no Target Tune available for the 2021 with the earlier software. I need to get the bike tuned after all the engine work I have done but I am quite a ways from anyone I would trust to tune it. I contacted several tuners and they are either booked or some other issue. I am aware of the no knock sensor issues with the Tmax but I'm no stranger to using a lap top to tune with as I use HP Tuners on my Corvette. At this point I would rather just tune it myself and roll on....

I would like feedback from people that actually use the Thundermax tuner. I have spent hours reading about it and realize that its not perfect. Since Power Vision chooses not to make any wide band support for the 2021 #27 software ecm, I am left in a difficult situation. Kind of hard to feel safe tuning a modified engine without any wide band information. I also am not going to just let anybody tune it.

I suggest you download the TMAX software
Alfa N is throttle position based, so tuning is
done based on TPS and engine RPM.
There is built in compensation for engine temp,
ambient temp and altitude, and you are tuning
based on the Cv of the throttle plate(s) at a given RPM.
The wide band feedback and auto tune are excellent and
keep you from burning it down, but timing is all on you.
Again, read up on Alfa N......

first off,,,the ThunderMax is a complete ECM system, not a tuner. Please keep this in mind,,,,you will loose other functions that are part of the stock ECM and how it interfaces with other modules. that being said...
it works fairly well despite it's alpha n strategy. I had a customer ask me to build him a pretty well improved 107 TC and used the ThunderMax that he already had. to get the most out of it, you need to work with it on the dyno to get the ignition advance dialed in perfoectly. The rest of the system gets its AFR's worked out pretty well if you follow the instructions properly,,,,you really need to have the most correct base map you can get to get the best results,,,,other wise it's either lots of riding for it to dial its-self in or take it in to a dyno tuner.
When I was all said and done the bike did 120 and 120 and ran very well on the street...
they can be made to work ok,,,,but im a little old fashions,,,,no target tune,,,,PowerVision or TTS and tune it on the dyno.

You use the green TTS that has 4 analogue inputs. Then you plug in something like Daytona Twin Tec or an Innovate product. Probably more for dyno guys. I program with regular TTS and collect data with the green. It'd be similar in cost to the Tmax but it's the only one like it for the delphi system.
