I recently bought a power commander for my heritage Softail. I didn't realize that my pipes, thunderheaders didn't have bungs to screw in the power commander sensors. I'm planning on taking my pipes into a shop to have holes cut in and bungs welded in. I was just wondering if there is a correct area on the pipes that these holes should be going? I have the pipes off the bike so I'll just be taking them in by themselves.

 

No more than 6 in from the exhaust ports on the cylinder heads. Put them back on your bike and mark them with the magic marker for angle and location that won't interfere with the cylinders or the frame..

 

Agreed with above, within 6" of the exhaust flange.
