2005 Road King doing weird stuff, need advise.
Sorry the bike is a 02 not a 05
Well this bike is officially confusing me, I have been beating my head against a wall for a few days now.
2002 Road King EFI with Cruise Control.
The bike was blowing the fuel pump fuse, I unplugged the fuel pump at connector 13a under the dash/ on top of the tank. Fuse stopped blowing which led me to believe that there was a pinched wire or a bad fuel pump. I removed the pump and inspected all wiring. I bench tested the pump and it worked fine. I did find one questionable wire and fixed that.
Now the fun begins!!!
With the RUN/Stop switched to run position I turn the bike on and there is no fuel pump or starter.
With the Run/Stop button switched to OFF, I turn the bike on then turn the RUN/Stop to RUN. The fuel pump clicks on and primes the system. I hit the starter button and the bike turns over but does not start. Release the starter button and you hear the fuel pump prime again like its supposed too. I then turn the bike off and on again then the fuel pump does not prime and the starter button does nothing.
After this the bike will do nothing unless I let it sit for an hour or two then the exact same thing happens.
What am I missing?

Battery is new and charged, I have cleaned the contacts inside and connecting to the main power switch. I have full power to everything, but still intermittent power to the Fuel Pump. Fuel pump and the starter relay only power up if I turn the bike on with the on/off switch in the off position then once I turn the on/off switch to ON then the fuel pump and starter circuit is live, I can hit the starter button and the bike turns over and the fuel pump primes, but if I turn the main power off and then on again,,,,,,,,Nothing for hours. Could it be a bad ECU??

The “nothing for hours” sounds like a circuit breaker that heated up due to over temp either by impedance or short to ground.
The short to ground should happen fast. Sounds like you need to start checking wires.
Have you done anything recently?
You need to check your work on the fuel pump.
