Was it making this noise when you first bought it?

Is it possible that the oil pump has failed? One of my friends who deals with Harley engines a lot says that the oil light being on when the bike is running gives him a feeling that its a failed oil pump and that I starved it of oil causing the metal shavings.

 

I thought there was no metal in the oil, just water.

How long does it stay running?

You never mentioned an oil light originally, was this just on after the oil change? Did you pre-oil the oil filter?

Maybe you should slow down and start from the beginning.

 

If you’ve run it that much with no oil pressure, plan on an engine overhaul. What were you thinking??

 

Funny enough I don't see 3 minutes in total of running as "that much" but sure, hindsight is 20/20, and at the time I did not know it had no oil pressure. A follow up after bringing it to the service center, they say there is no oil running from the oil pump so it likely failed, they also said there is some scorching on the cylinder walls and that they have to tear down the gear case to see if the pinion drive gear is damaged.
