Broken Injector

Broken Injector
Went on a ride yesterday and 65 miles from home bike started running strange and check engine light came on.
Pulled off the interstate and plugged in the Powervision. Checked codes, and got no fuel to rear cylinder and rear injector problem.
began pulling the injector assembly apart. When I tried to unplug the rear injector, the plug was hanging in the air. Pulled the fuel rail and the plug was sheared off the rear injector:
Any ideas of what caused this. Bike is an 09 FLHX with 71000 miles. I am thinking it was just age and heat got it, then the vibration helped it along.
I was going to upgrade the injectors to larger, but after speaking with FuelMoto I was advised to stick with the stock ones for my year.
Now i'm hoping they have new injectors in stock at one of the dealers around me.

Fuel Moto air cleaner, headpipe and Jackpot 4" mufflers.

I'll never understand way some want bigger injectors. Cuz it's cool? Going to bigger injectors on a Delphi system requires a retune and unless you are running the injector above specs, it won't do anything. In fact, it may make lower throttle harder to tune.
The broken injector connection seems pretty uncommon around here. I've not seen it. I'd suspect that it's either a defect in the plastic or someone damage the connector while working on the bike. Possibly the wire going to it was tight. Usually the wires in the harness break first.

Yes, broken injectors are rare. Hard to say how that happened. New should be available. There are a few on eBay. There are also the Twin Power clones which are considerably cheaper. I know not if they are as good. You could also contact Pinwall Cycles or another salvage place for a used pair.

I looked at the twin power and Fueling. Fuelings are on backorder until God know when. Never dealt or heard of Twin Power, so am a little weary buying them. I'll put it back together and when they come off backorder I replace the front one as well. Just so I have 2 that are fresh.
