I bought a new HD FLHTK in Huston TX this past Jan. being new to this bike and seeing a red security light coming on when I starting riding the bike. I did learn how to reset and remove codes. If I try to drive the bike with the light on it goes into limp mode. This is getting worse and a real pain. I am about 1600 miles north of my winter home now and will return in November, then hope to try to get this fixed at a HD dealer being under warranty. I have spoke to the dealer several times and unable to fix this problem. I was hoping some one else has maybe had this problem and has a fix, we are a long distance from a HD dealer here.

 

I have the same problem on a trip from Tennessee to Florida went into limp mode same codes. If I stay below 4500 rpm it is fine. Harley will pick it up when I get back to Tennessee. Hop they fix it.

 

Don’t know where you are, but you don’t have to take it to the selling dealership for warranty work.

 

telling us the dtc's will help as we do not know what codes are showing up?

 

Finally getting my bike back Wednesday, after 3 weeks and several tries the whole wiring harness was replaced. I will be happy to see her again. Time for another trip.
