Max,
i did not try squirting fuel down the intake, but i did pull the "top plate" (not sure what you call it) for the fuel tank and i prime the fuel pump while looking into the gas tank and there was a bunch of fuel squirting from the back of the fuel filter housing. i removed the fuel filter and it is fairly dirty. i reassembled without fuel filter and fuel comes from the back o fthe housing again. Is there supposed to be an o-ring that goes where the filter housing mates to the fuel cap (top plate) assembly? it seams there is a bunch of play there, even with the u-shaped retaining clip installed. I'm guessing this is where the loss of pressure is coming from.

Big shout out to Max Headflow!!
Thank you friend. The o-ring on the filter housing was worn and stiff. I guess it just finally bounced a bit loose going down my gravel road the last time I road the bike (‘03 FXDWG is my main squeeze) and was spraying fuel out the back of the housing. Well, after changing the fuel filter and o-ring,…IT LIVES!!! Again, thank you Max for being a great sounding board. If you ever find yourself in central OK, drinks on me. 🍻🍻🍻
