Performance minded folks yanked the oem ignitions for more responsive systems beck then, but I never heard of a points "upgrade."
If he's actually there, I'd just go with a Dyna S and a 5 ohm coil and be done with it.

Going back to points wasn't unheard of early on in the days of electronic ignition.

My 1996 Fatboy is still running just fine as it came. It will stay that way. If it aint broke don't mess with it. If it breaks after 27 years
Put the same parts back in if you can IMO.

Just like the Carb for 27 years people have been telling me to get rid of the junk Carb. Well it has never been apart. Never needed to be messed with. Seems it must be pretty good.

Maybe so, but the bike being discussed is a `95 Fat Boy.

1995 was long after the early days of electronic ignition.

And the first ones sucked. The first one harley used in '79 didn't make it past '80. It stuck with people long after. Apparently well into the 90s since this '95" has points apparently.
