Default SmartTunePro & Decatted HeaderPipe

This question pertains to the 2017-2020 M8 touring bikes. Will the H-D Smart Tune Pro part# 41000445 work properly with a stock decatted header pipe/FullSac M8 sport pipe. The FullSac looks what i want, Just do not know if the SmartTune Pro will work with this pipe and the SE -447 stage 2 torque cam.So does anybody know or have the Smart Tune Pro with the stock decatted pipe or a no catt. head pipe. Thanks and best regards TD

IME these full-time closed loop system does not work as advertised UNLESS the stock or restrictive exhaust system is maintained to assure proper readings (exhaust pressure against the sensor in all conditions) are received by the ECM. Unless The OEM or other restrictive exhaust systems are used with full-time closed loop systems, it risks air-polluted exhaust getting to the sensors which the system must rely upon for fueling. Simply doesn’t work very well and the stock system (narrow bands) work best of all when tuned in the right hands,
Also the ECM must be run in “engineering mode” which is how they are able to use the widebands sensors. The problem is the ECM cannot remember what it had learned during a ride. As you ride it retunes from the base map in the ECM each and every time you start the engine.
THIS is why it is absolutely necessary the bike is tuned properly BEFORE using the “Smart“ Tune Pro. Which then brings up the question of why in the world would one opt for all that added and modified stuff when the original system can be tuned to work perfectly 24/7 because the system can be tuned to listen to the sensors when appropriate and ignore the bogus readings when desired. This tuning technique is not available with HD Smart Tune Pro.
Hope this helps,
Bob
PS - If auto tune closed loop systems worked as advertised I would be looking for work. 😳

Thanks Bob this old dog just learned a new trick, what is your opinion on the Fulsac modified M8 header vs. My decatted M8 header.

Fulsac is a little better due to its longer primaries.
Is it worth the extra $? Depends if your pink slip is on the line I guess ;-)
