I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.

I have a 1982 FXRS and I am having some electrical problems with it. The battery will not charge. If I jump it, it starts and runs great with no problems at all. But somehow after I ride it several times the battery is dead. I'm not sure if it would be the alternator or the brainbox. I have been having problems with an oil leak as well and it seems to have dripped a lot of oil in the area of the brainbox...

(also, how much does a brainbox or an alternator for my bike usually cost?)

Try replacing your voltage regulator.

 

It must be the v-regulator or the stator.
