ECM Locking me out- Help!!
I have a 2005 Softail Springer Classic that the ECM went bad, so I got another one on Ebay. It worked great the first couple times starting the bike but now is locking me out with the code P1009. Any ideas how to get past it? The bike is at the shop still. I think the default is 12345? Any ideas? Really dont want to take it back to the dealer, that didnt want to do any work on it.

get the factory service manual, then attempt to perform the password learn sequence laid out in the manual. if that fails, a very good indy shop can get it done. if there is an additional issue, such as wiring or TSSM that would have to be evaluated also. I dont know the shops up in your area anymore, but you might try Zipper's in Elkridge MD if you are at a loss. or maybe Patriot HD?

I did the learning sequence and it unlocked the ecm but now it runs like crap and the horn, blinkers, brake lights and lcd display dont work? I have an appt at a Harley Dealer who says they can "flash" it for $50 if the guy on the phone was right. I guess I will do that, last shop it was at recommended it, unless anyone else has some ideas. Thanks for the help guys. Reply

Is it the same part number as the one you replaced? Different years and bike models use different base configurations and will not work properly if mixed. The dealer can program it with a stock calibration the you can get it tuned as it won’t run well on the stock mapping...unless, of course you still have the bike stock, as delivered from the factory...especially the exhaust and cams.
