Default Data Link question...'07 Touring/T-Max

Iposted this on HTT but thought I'd toss it out on this board too...any input is appreciated!

I'm using a Thundermax Auto-Tune and getting an error message that says "No O2 sensors detected". The guys at Zippers have been awesome in trying to help me chase this down. Everything has been replaced piece by piece and I still get the message. That leaves us thinking that the bike's data link is not supplying power to the auto-tune module. How can I test the data link to see if it's "hot" without taking it to the dealer and playing 100 questions and worrying about warranty issues? I'm stumped. Is the data link plugged in somewhere on the other end that Imight check?

That's ok Rick. Some of the guys on HTT think it might be as simple as a ground problem. There are some pretty knowledgeable folks over there so when they talk, I listen. I picked up a multi-meter to test for 12 volts at the data link and I suspect it will read zero. HOPEFULLY, cleaning up the grounds will fix the problem.

Due to various reasons, I replaced my Gen I unit with a Gen II unit.

I had the "no sensors found" problem until I updated the ThunderMax software to the latest version.

Then everything was OK with the Gen II unit.

I tried that too. I uninstalled the software and started from scratch with a new installation disc.

Last Thursday I went from a gen 1 unit to a gen 2 unit, still have the same issue.

I'm reallystumped now. I was fairly sure it must not be getting power from the data link, thinking maybe it was as simple as a bad ground. But I just checked and there is 11.93 volts on my multi-meter. WTF????

Forget the "installation" disk, unless it is SmartLink IV version 2006.17.9.
Otherwise, go to the website, thats the only place you can be assured of getting the latest software.
The installation disk that ships with the product is not necessarily the latest.

Yeah, I thought about that after I wrote that last message. Checked for updates and none were found.

Look inside the data connector and make sure you can see 3 pins.

Check that none are loose and being pushed back in when you plug the auto tune module in.

Also make sure it is the correct connector you are plugging into. It is the one hanging upside down right next to the ECM with a rubber plug in it.

There is another one in that area somewhere that is used for somthing else.

Good luck

Yep, right plug (the data link is the only one that will fit the T-Mat connection that's right there under the right side plate on a touring bike, there is an accesory plug but that's under the seat), all the pins are tight, I checked that when I checked the voltage. I'm baffled.
