I have a 1988 1200 Sportster. My battery was only a year old,(HD AGM sealed #65991-82B) when the bike just shut off at 70 mph on a thruway. The battery was dead,or shorted out,killing the bike. I put in a new Drag Specialities battery #YTX20H-BS. I had the charging system tested,and is ok,but today it did the same thing while riding again! It sucks to have to be trailered home. The new battery is dead/shorted out. Any body had this problem? I called two HD mechanics,and they both said that the batteries will just short out, and won't let the bike run off the alternator unlike wet batteries. This is a new one on me. I have had this bike since 1992,and always used wet batteries without any problems. I also use a battery tender when in storage. HELP!!!! Shortmort.
