Time to yank the crank...but I think you already know that. Believe me I know it sucks...mine went south about 5 weeks ago. Sent it out to get fixed and was told it would be as much to fix mine as it would to buy new. So a new one is heading my way next week...should be able to get it fixed and get a few, weeks out of the rest of the season...good luck with yours.

I had a bad vibration after putting true duals on and it turned out to be the exhaust hanger on the right side...I had been shipped the softail version instead of touring and it was gripping the pipe too tightly

Just a quick thought before you tear it down. It's rubber mounted - feeling a hard vibration in the frame means the mounting system might be bypassed. Common points are mufflers sliding back and hitting the mount under the bags, something jammed between the inner primary and frame, frame crossmember under bike bent up and hitting bottom of engine/trans pan (this one will often be bent and nearly touching, but hit when running).

no, selling isn't an option - the engine is totally stock, i can pull it have the crank case split, crank trued and welded and timkin installed and cleaned by the same guy doing my heads this winter. the rest of the rebuild is easy, done it many times on different rides.
i'll get it up on the lift, do a compression check, pull the heads and check the run out, maybe even pull the jugs. with the crank oil showing 255 on molybdenum after a 1300 mile oil change i'm thinking i split the crank to some degree and the rods are wearing.

also, just to rule out any fuel pressure possibly causing a hard combustion issue with the tune, i flashed it back to my stock tune, same vibration at the 1500 rpm mark - i also dropped the fuel by 10% in both mid range, retested and global and retested, no change in vibration at that harmonic. so, that basically sums it up, it's mechanical.

anyway, i posted this being 95% certain of what the issue is - but wanted a reality check from the group.
Curious where you got the back luggage rack? nice looking bike

Have you checked the compensator nut? Known issue on the early twin cams.
