2016 103cubic popping/backfiring on deceleration
Hi Guys
So new to this forum thing, just got a few questions as to why my 103 Dyna seems to pop/backfire on deceleration?
the bike has done 3200km from new it has been fitted with Vance&Hines short shot pipes,Screaming Eagle KIT-EFI SUPER TUNER (HD32109-08C),and a Screaming Eagle heavy breather air filter
the dealer says that its fine and not to worry but ive had quite a few other people tell me its not normal
can someone please give me an explanation as to why and IF it is normal?

My 2013 RGC was like that. SERIOUS decel popping. Bought the bike new, had dealer do stage 1 with a download, didn't want to buy a tuner as I wasn't going to do anything more than the stage 1. Complained to the service manager. He pretty much said "It won't hurt anything and, no, nothing can be done about it." Haven't spent a nickle in Bluegrass Harley since that day. Went with a Thundermax tuner. Solved the decel problem 100% immediately. And glad I went with the good Thundermax tuner cause later I had cams put in also.

Decel pop is normal and with those pipes it is way more obvious. The good news is that it really won't hurt the motor and it can be tuned out. The bad news is that the pipes you have are very hard to tune, but an expert with that tuner and a dyno can pretty much make the popping go away. In addition to being difficult to tune, the short shots will also rob you of some low and midrange power. So you might want to consider an exhaust system that will get you more power and be easier to dial in.
Also make sure you don't have any intake or exhaust leaks.
