Tach set-up

Tach set-up
This may be moved to another section if needed. Anyways, I got a '07 Low Rider. I got this type mainly because it was the only FX model with a tach. I live by a tach. But, I'm noticing that I have to take my eyes off the road to look down at the tach. Not safe. I do have an aftermarket tach on my shovel (on the handlebars) that I'd like to use.
Here's the electrical picture: on the handlebar mount there are 4 wires.
1) red wire to ignition 2) blue to lamp 3) black to ground and 4) green to neg of the coil.
I was looking at the hook-up to the low rider's tach :Ignition is orange (would match the red wire) Battery is BN/GV...I don't think I'd use that one Accessory is O/W (would match the blue wire) BK is ground..no problem. Now, the only other connection in the Low Rider's tach is the LGN/V DATALINK. I looked at the Low Riders coil..no negative.
My question is would I hook up the aftermarket tach's green to the datalink wire for the signal??? I don't want to 'cook' anything.
If this works, if anyone on the forum wants a working tach, I'd sell it pretty cheap. I'd like to find a cover for the center console to cover the chrome and hole that would be there. I could just leave the tach there, but that would be pretty cheesy
Any ideas out there??

RE: Tach set-up
gee, no one replied to my post. After doing more searching, and spending some time with the bike and manual, I got the other tach to work. I ended up getting my tach signal off #3 of the ECM which had a red plug in it. I just wired the other wires from the tach into the existing wires on the factory tach which I cut, didn't need 2 tachs. Still baffled where the factory tach got it's signal, since all it's wires were common with the speedo.
Well, like I said, the aftermarket handlebar tach works just fine. Now, what's my next project ???
