Sert - anyone know what they are doing?

RE: Sert - anyone know what they are doing?
I didn't get the second map yet but I can tell you that if the VE's were correct from the first tuner and it was running in closed loop mode, the second tuner actually made thecalibration leaner by taking it out of closed loop when he changed the numbers down to 14.2, with the bias tables maxed out it should control to about a 14.1 to 1 afr in closed loop(providing the VE's are correct). I seriously think you need to find a new tuner. As for an intake leak, start by first just checking that the bolts are tight and that the Ness big sucker is not putting pressure on the throttle body in any way when tightened up. Also you can check for an intake leak using an unlit propane torch around the intake flanges while bike is running to see if RPM changes occur when you run propane around the flanges. The other possibility is that if there were an exhaust leak, they could have been getting eroneous afr reading out the pipe when they tuned it. The VE tables should not end up maxed out in the areas they are on a stock motor. You might alsowant to ask them why they didn't do any work on the timing tables. I would also love to hear what Doc or Shovelhead Bob have to say about the map you sent me. Better yet, get the bike to Doc and get it tuned correctly.

Got a look at the original map and it looks much more usable than the map the second guy "tweaked", The bias tables were maxed and there were several changes made to the VE tables, this should be a pretty decent map providing the VE tables are correct. There are two schools of thought on getting rid of decel pop, either drown it or starve it, that is to say, since adding fuel is not correcting the decel pop, try taking fuel away in the 0 percent column (1500 rpm and up)and seeif you can eliminate it that way. I would still have to say a complete tune that adressed ignition timing would be the best thing for you to do at this point.
