Default 2008 FLSTN Fuel line removal from fuel rail

This is how to remove the OEM fuel line from the fuel rail and swap it on a 2008 FLSTN.

It may help others wondering how to disconnect and remove.

This is how i did it, it may not be the way the manual says to do it nor the correct way.....it is the way I did it.

Firstly de-pressurize the fuel line.
- Start the bike and pull the fuel pump fuse located under the seat.
- The bike will stall
- After it has stalled hit the starter for about another 3-5 seconds.
- Then i pulled the Maxi fuse....just to be safe.
- Now you can remove the quick connect at the tank end of the fuel line. A few small drops of fuel will drip out.
- I removed the horn next and the ignition leads to make more room.
- Now i had room to squeeze my sausage fingers in behind the engine mount and reach the fuel line at the fuel rail.
- On my bike, the connection at the fuel rail required me to squeeze in two small tabs on the sides and push them downward
- This released the fuel line and let me slide it right off the fuel rail. Again only a few drops of fuel came out.
- The new Stainless Steel braided line pushed straight onto the rail and clicked into place.
- The same for the quick connect at the tank end. It just clicks into place the same way as the original.
- I reconnected everything and replaced the fuses, then turned the ignition on without starting the bike to let the fuel system re-pressurize and check for leaks.

A few pics to show how the OEM fuel line releases at the fuel rail end.

The original fuel line showing the connection end for the fuel rail.

The two small tabs you need to push inwards and down to release the fuel line from the rail.

What the end will look like after you have released the locking tab. This is when it should easily come off the fuel rail.

The new braided fuel line installed with a chrome quick connect cover.

I hope this might be able to help someone.
