Default Is this an efi noise?

I recently purchased a 2010 Fatboy. Under hard acceleration, sometimes I hear a tinking noise. It sounds like a taut metal wire being cut. It reminds me of a metallic, sort of tin like noise. Once it was really loud, reminded me of a ricocheting bullet. Not really sure what it is and was hoping someone could enlighten me. Other than that, the bike runs great. No problems. Idles just fine, starts just fine and doesnt lose power, even when I hear that noise.

It's just a little bit of pre-detonation. You can re-tune it to alleviate the noise if you have a programmable tuner or take it to a dealer and let them do it. Usually it involves retarding the timing a few degrees.

Try about 2 gal of race fuel mixed with about 2 gal of fuel that is in the tank. If the sound goes away, the noise was detonation.

Tuning the EFI is the only way to cure it. Detonation is really hard on the motor.

I think it is the gas. I put some 104 octane boost in it and it stopped a lot of it. I still hear it every so often, but no where near what it was. It sort of sounds like the tinkling of pipes cooling down. Like I said, though. I think it just needs better gas put into it. Thanks guys!

Put the best gas you can get from a standard gas station and try it. In the USA it would normally be 91 or 93
