RE: What's the SERT Bootloader?
Good question............
He's using cables from an older SERT, bought the "F" package, and attempting to flash using the "J" Software.
We eliminated the USB/Serial adapter by attempting to flash with a desktop that had onboard Serial ports. Still same brick wall.
Could be a bad cable, fault in the interface, or bug in the ECM. Dealer did replace his ECM recently; but when communicating with the bike, the ECM comes up with proper part number. Also has the 0903 Torque Smoothing download.
He's gonna discuss it with the dealer and see what shakes out. My uneducated guess is they will need to reflash his ECM and try the SERT from there.

There is a question..... Was the SERT purchased and used on the PREVIOUS ECM????
If so, there is your problem.....
New ECM, but the key is encoded to the old ECM......

RE: What's the SERT Bootloader?
Bob:
That's an excellent observation. I "think" the SERT was used prior to the ECM replacement because there was an instance ofthe SERT finding aDTC being set for the rear O2 sensor that required the ECM replacement.
But, doesn't the SERT lock to the VIN of the bike vs. directly to a single ECM?
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

ORIGINAL: Shovelhead Bob
VIN for the BIKE.....
The ECM has it's own "Key".... Kinda like a software registration/activation key.....
Whenever an ECM that has been race tuned is replaced under warrenty, HD must provide a replacement SERT key.....
