2012 FLHR Sound Check
2012 Harley Davidson FLHR Road King, Jackpot stainless 2-1-2 head pipes, Fuel Moto Pro Billet Air Kit, Dynojet Power Vision tuner... Stock Mufflers! Video recorded with GoPro HD Hero 2 and Audio-Technica Lavalier Microphone. Microphone was taped to rear of right side saddlebag, about 4 inches above exhaust, foam windscreen on microphone... no wind noise. Purpose of this video is to demonstrate the sound of stock 2012 Harley-Davidson FLHR mufflers when combined with tuned head pipe, stage 1 air kit, and tuner.

Maggie,
The late model (2010 up) touring bikes with catalytic converter in the head pipe have less restrictive mufflers than the earlier models. I installed the air kit and flashed the ecm a couple days before installing the Jackpot 2-1-2 head pipe. There was a noticable differece in exhaust sound with only the free breathing air kit and tune, but getting rid of the catalytic converter is what really made a diffrence.
While performance mufflers would allow the engine to produce more power in the mid to upper RPM range... I'm more interested in how the engine performs right off idle, to mid range. With the stock mufflers, I get the performance and sound I want. The exhaust sound and wind noise balance at 55 ~ 60 MPH, no tiring exhaust drone when traveling.
The sound of my FLHR when completely stock was a result of the stock air filter, head pipe with catalytic converter, and stock mufflers... Fortunately, the catalytic converter and stock air box were the most restrictive parts of the system.
