The rider is a fool, and as a result we all look a bit more foolish in the eyes of the general public.

It isn't an itch for speed. It is about you being immature and undisciplined. If you exercise your itch for speed on public roads you are an immature moron.

A bike with a rider doing 150 (no way in hell did he ever hit 186 mph maybe 120. Anyhow, going that fast in traffic means you have a high probability of killing an innocent person.

None of us care if you kill yourself acting stupid, but when you put other needlessly at risk because you lack intelligence and discipline is lame.

If you don't do that on public roads than obviously none of the above applies.

When I want to go fast, I go to a track day event. I am sure there are multiple places in your area that have tracks open for exactly this purpose.

I can haul *** and if I screw up it will be my dumbass who dies or is injured and at worst someone else that has knowingly placed themselves on the track.

Excellent point!
I agree and while they are at it I think HD should be forced to limit the speed on their bikes to 45 mph and minimal torque figures. Obviously, a Harley is not meant to handle well so they are unable to maneuver as quickly as smaller less nimble bikes. It would also be helpful if legislatures made laws limiting the speed of a Harley and other large bikes.

Just like Yamaha TV commercials are REALLY geared towards irresponsible drug using youths HDs are clearly marketed to the percentage of bikers that do drugs and drink and drive.

I think for the safety of everyone on the roads, law enforcement should be allowed to randomly pull over Harley riders, Triumph and Indian riders and give them field sobriety tests. I mean we all know that some HD owners drive under the influence so for the sake of everyone I think HD riders should be put through a different routine.

The MOCO being responsible for the actions of the end user should have to have irreversible limiters put on the bikes. I think as long as we are being sensible here we as owners should insist that HD make only bikes that cannot be modified in any way. There is no standard for modifications made to bikes, no one is closely inspecting them and let's face it HD markets their bikes towards people who like to customize. How do we know they are making safe modifications? We don't so engines should be welded and secured to frame, cylinder heads made non removable as well as ensuring that the cylinders cannot be enlarged or the stroke lengthened.

I agree blowing the speed limit like that is wrong. But I am always fascinated by people who lives in socialist countries non free countries like Canada or France or the UK and Germany (and unfortunately some here in the US) you don't even think twice when you say stuff like this.

Instead of punishing us all for the actions of this guy by forcing a company to do something we should have laws and laws that are enforced that say if you endanger the lives of others on the roads by acting like that guy than you will never have the right to do that again. And if you are caught again endangering others than you should lose your freedom for a long time.

Before some innocent family loses someone.

You guys have lost all sense of freedom and personal responsibility. You think that a manufacturer is responsible for the end user.

I hope and pray that Canadians and Europeans wake up and I certainly hope many Americans wake up and realize that freedom should have a foundation of personal responsibility and liability.

It isn't up the the manufacturers to ensure those bikes are used in a safe manner. It is up to the riders and in some instances up to all of us to educate those who are not as smart or the youngins that think they are bullet proof and invisible.
