My brother had a unique way of learning to ride; he "borrowed" my Honda S90 when I wasn't looking. He was 11. No helmet, no instruction, fortunately no cops; did fine, just got on and rode around the neighborhood, first time shifting gears and clutching anything. Some folks can just do it. I was both pissed at and proud of the little guy.

Been riding bikes sincie i was 7 am 54 now and have 28,000+ miles on a 2011 flhtk, had never rode a sportster untill wive got one because "smaller bikes are easier" she didnt like it so it sat in garage one day i gfot it out and rode it, wow my ultra and my old heritage were much easier to ride and handle. Also with my ultra limited that has anti-lock brakes i can stop much quicker and safer than a much smaller bike. A friend has a 2008 C-50 Suzuki and it has a drum brake on back and i can stop much faster than he can. Wife says a big bike is so much easier to ride and people see you better on a big bike. just my two cents

The video is not bogus, she'd been riding small bikes. What the guy there is trying to demonstrate is that even a little girl can ride a big rig. That's all,you might stand as firmly as you wish but I trust an experienced rider/instructor such as the "Motorman" who certainly knows what he's talking about more than you do.
perhaps jerry could check in here and give us his thoughts on starting small for a first time beginner.
