Question Alaskapade Video Hosting

It took me five months with all my work travel and other obligations to get through the footage and images and put the video together. There are 11 segments totaling almost 18GB in .avi format. I can render them into DVD format for a total of about 4GB.

I'd like to be able to post them someplace, but YouTube is very inconsistent with its copyright enforcement and I have lots of tunes in the segments. I'm not seeking profit or gain for the video and I bought all the music I used, so although that has no legal merit, I lose no sleep at night having used artists' music.

My Alaskapade.com site has a 10GB limit and the GoDaddy servers would be woefully slow if multiple users attempt to view the videos. If anyone can suggest an online location to place to post them, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance!

Scott, Have you thought about splitting the video into chapters that are smaller and thus better hosted by GoDaddy? I think most sites have either a time limit or size restriction that would make posting it difficult.

Trust me, they're as small as they can get and still have any logical flow. I shot everything in 1080p HD and rendered it at a lower definition. In DVD format, it would be under 4gb, but the individual pieces add up. I can render them into fewer groups with a few segments in each and save some space, but still would have to deal with the copyright issues.

I looked at Vimeo and even if I pay the $60 annual fee for a "Plus" account, there's no guarantee they won't block the videos because of the music. Call me stubborn, but I'm not willing to compromise on the trip video content anymore than I was on the trip itself.

I may try to post them as links for download from my Alaskapade.com domain. Worst case, If anyone really wants to see it, I guess I could send them a DVD.

Thanks. The file size limit is too small.

Hello Scott I can't offer any advice but I hope someone can steer you in the right direction. I for one would like to see your video and I'm sure plenty of others would also.

I'm not quite sure of the proper wording, but If I'm not mistaken all you have to do to get Youtube to disregard the tunes you used is to make a comment on the video stating something like "the music used in this video is for educational use only and not for profit." You might look and see if you can find that proper terminology to get away with keeping all of your music included in the vid.
Good luck and post who you have it hosted through when you get around to it.

Vimeo will work. I used it to post my 30+ minute ride video. I had just bought the songs as mp3's as I was rendering the video (some were not bought & got by other means)

See this link for proof it will work http://vimeo.com/10570025
