My wife and I started our Boone trip with a loooong day on the slab, 723 miles from Margate, FL to Charlotte, NC. We have a friend there, she put us up for the night. So the next morning was an easy 85 mile ride up to Boone. Our friend drove up also, so we could spend the day together.
The video starts as we are leaving the "Daniel Boone Inn", a famous eatery known for it's "All You Can Eat" Southern Cooking. That explains the long line of people wrapped around the building. Once I get going down Hwy 105, I could see Grandfather Mountain in the distance. As I get closer, the profile of the old man's face is unmistakable. So up we go, only to find that the wait is alot like it was at the restaurant! So we parked down low, had a nice little hike to the summit, stayed till closing time.
