1). Can you turn the audio recording off completely while filming? So, you don't get the wind noise at all.

2). I don't want any kind of permanent mount on my helmet. Can I use the head-lamp style strap over my helmet? Or any other suggestions or advice.

Thanks!
When you edit your movie you can mute the sound of the movie piece by piece or in it's entirety.

The go pro comes with two backs - a vented back (which I suggest using so you don't have the condensation problem) and a watertight back. The effect on external sound is obvious.

The permanent mount is very small - the rig slides in and out. On a black helmet you wouldn't even see it.

There are all kinds of frame mounts and even a super strong suction cup mount, plus there are a bunch of ram mount options you can mess with.

Helmet works best because you can pan around really easily. We run two and it's a hoot. Kits are $239 at BB.

This is what happend to mine and a friend in Tenn.

Sheared off at the two peices that fit into the nest arm.

Buddy watched his drop off of handlebars, I didn;t see mine go, was mounted to crash bars. This is what i found in the road.

GoPro did stand behind it and sent me a new camera. They have a great product, just not sure of the nylon mounting arms.

Default Safety Teather

I also learned from my friend in Tenn. Ran a flat shoelace through the open backing, and tied it off so IF the mount gives way camera will only drop a few inches.

GoPro is a great camera, they replaced my 960 with a new 1080 and a new handlebar mount.

I have lost all faith in their mounts, but it is a great camera.

P.S. Bud in Tenn is building alum mount arms. Anybody interested? You will be when you lose a camera on the road.

I too don't really have a lot of faith in their mounts so I rig my own using whatever resource is available I can find. I won't use the helmet mount so I use the head strap over the helmet. I made a chest mount using an old belt and a couple bungie cords. Working on other ways as well. The aluminum mount idea sounds like a great idea.

It's a good company that has made people full again after losing the camera or mounts, etc.

That's interesting. I have mine mounted to the crash bar and just leave the hsg and take the camera out. When i got to Sturgis i took the hsg off to mount it on the helmet and found one of the tabs broke. Sounds like Go Pro has a mount design problem. Like you said they are great for service. i had a clip break and called to purchase a new one and i got 2 at no charge.
