When Hunter died a few years ago, original first edition hard copies of this book Hells Angels sold for up to $1000 on eBay. Unfortunately, the one I have is a "Book Club" edition.

 

I know it first hand from Sonny to me, that in fact, Hunter Thompson did get involved with Junky George and his old lady and did make the comment: "Only a punk beats his wife and kicks his dog". That was his invitation to getting beat down. He may have been a great writer, but he was definitely a bit shy in the smarts dept. Only a fool would get involved in a personal situation, that didn't involve him, with an HA member.

 

Amazing how different the times were.....

 

"Junky George was beating his ol lady and his dog bit him, thats between the three of them" hilarious!! you could tell the guy was cowering there on the stage wether he wrote the truth or not, he was not comfortable at that moment huh

 

Still amazes me how people allow themselves to be sucked into thinking these guys are something special. I don't understand it.

 

That's becasue they are.
